The Company Counsel Network executes its overall mission – providing strategic highly-skilled attorneys, tempered with business experience, who work on a part-time basis at the offices of early-stage and emerging small-to-mid-size private and public companies that have not yet employed their own full-time in-house counsel or general counsel. We can also help if your company already has a legal department but need sadditional in-house support in lieu of hiring an additional full-time in-house attorney. Assessment and Placement of Company Counsel Network Attorneys  We assess your company’s legal requirements and designate a qualified and mutually acceptable senior-level transactional attorney who has – in addition to extensive professional experience in private practice – prior in-house counsel, general counsel and/or management experience. With your agreement, this attorney becomes your Company Counsel Network Attorney and provides the following services:
Actual On-Site Services. Your company would contract initially for a Company Counsel Network Attorney to provide actual on-site services, typically for 1 – 4 half-days per week. Rates, which may vary depending upon the particular Company Counsel Network Attorney and other factors, are usually in the range of $600 - $800 per 4-hour half-day (which is approximately $2,600 - $3,500 per month of 4.3 weeks), or $150 - $200 per hour...a rate that is the same as, or less than, the rate charged by major and mid-size law firms for their most junior and inexperienced associates.
Virtual On-Site Services. Additionally, your Company Counsel Network Attorney is virtually on-site to work remotely as required to complement actual on-site services (subject to reasonable availability). This may include (i) short telephonic and electronic communications with management when the Company Counsel Network Attorney is off-site, for which there is no additional charge, as well as (ii) any other required legal services that are within the Company Counsel Network Attorney's expertise which would be charged at the same low hourly rate then-applicable for contracted actual on-site services. In any event, phone calls to your Company Counsel Network Attorney are always accepted or returned so promptly that it’s almost like being in the next office.
The Company Counsel Network Attorneys, as a group, comprise a mutually supportive collaborative network of highly skilled and experienced senior-level transactional attorneys, a unique resource that your Company Counsel Network Attorney can easily tap in order to be more effective in his or her representation of your company. Preferred 3rd Party Providers From time-to-time, your company will require special legal and/or other services beyond those available from your Company Counsel Network Attorney or the Company Counsel Network. We are continually evaluating and developing relationships with qualified 3rd party providers – such as specialized patent, tax and litigation law firms and “unbundled” legal research services firms – and may often be able to negotiate preferred terms on behalf of your company.
